Watch Highlights from the 2010 Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Forecast

Volume 6, Issue 8 Last month, the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center (CEC) brought together leaders from the entrepreneurial and venture capital communities to discuss the state of entrepreneurship in Chicago. The panelists addressed issues such as raising capital next year, the outlook for technology and Internet-based businesses, and insights into 2010’s retail environment.

SoCore Energy Completes One of the Largest Higher Education Solar Installations in the Midwest

Volume 6, Issue 8 SoCore Energy, a CEC client and portfolio company of the Illinois Innovation Accelerator Fund (I2A), recently completed a solar installation at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Lincoln Hall. This is one of the largest higher education solar installations in the Midwest. This system will produce 57,500 kilowatt hours annually, meaning that approximately 14% of the building's annual power will be provided by solar energy.

SoCore Energy’s UIC installation at Lincoln Hall (see photo) was completed on November 19, 2009.

Talia Mashiach of Eved Named One of Ernst & Young’s
2009 Entrepreneurial Winning Women

Volume 6, Issue 8 Eved recently announced that Talia Mashiach was one of nine female entrepreneurs selected to participate in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneurial Winning WomenTM program designed to accelerate the growth of high-potential businesses founded by women entrepreneurs. The winners were selected from a competitive list of women entrepreneurs residing across the US by a diverse group of independent judges. Eved Services was also the recipient of the CEC's 2009 Merrick Momentum Award.
