Ernst & Young LLP Seeks Midwest’s Exceptional Entrepreneurs -- Nominations Due March 19 for the E&Y Entrepreneur Of The Year Award

Volume 7, Issue 1 The Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center is proud to partner with Ernst & Young LLP for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award. The award makes a difference through the unique way it encourages entrepreneurial activity among those with potential and recognizes the contribution of people who inspire others with their vision, leadership and achievement. Many CEC clients and Board members have been recognized by the Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Ernst & Young LLP announced the open nomination period for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2010 Awards in the Midwest region. The deadline for applications is March 19, with the awards ceremony scheduled for June 24 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel.

Awards are given to entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Self-nominations are encouraged, and there is no fee. Application forms must be received by March 19.

CEC Co-Chairman Advocates for Entrepreneurial, Capital Growth in Illinois

Volume 7, Issue 1 Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center (CEC) Co-Chairman Jim O’Connor, Jr. testified before an Illinois Senate Commerce Committee hearing focused on venture capital on February 4. The hearing was organized by State Sen. Dan Kotowski (D-Park Ridge) and the Illinois Venture Capital Association. The goal of the hearing was to emphasize how the state can partner with private companies to protect existing jobs and create new jobs. O’Connor discussed the importance of supporting high-growth companies as a means to economic development, and the success CEC clients have had at creating new jobs here in Illinois.

Financing Farm to Fork Conference

Volume 7, Issue 1 The CEC is proud to support FamilyFarmed.org’s Financing Farm to Form Conference, which is part of their three-day Family Farmed Expo. The event will address investment in farm and food production, processing, and distribution businesses, and help link producers with members of the investment community.
